Marconi, Co. Galway, TTT thirtythreetrees. Jimi Shields

New €1.2m visitor experience at Marconi Wireless Station, (1907-1922), and landing site of Alcock and Brown's historic first non-stop transatlantic flight, (1919). TTT worked on the entrance, (slides 1-3), the siting and form of the 5 monoliths (slides 4,7 & 8), and various walkways within 5k looped walk (slides 5, 6 & 9). Slide 7 shows the "Altar", conceived by TTT implemented by DBA. Involved from inception through to handover - TTT input is described by Shields in Sparking Modernity, book available at RIAI Bookshop and Dublin Architecture Gallery. Design Team led by Denis Byrne Architects. Client Group: Galway Co. Council, Failte Ireland and Clifden Chamber of Commerce. Main Contractor: Kesel Construction.
